Rain Returns to the Small Screen with "Red Swan"
Yes, he’s back! For those who have missed seeing Rain in action-packed roles, you're in for a treat. Starting July 3, 2024, Disney+ will premiere his latest project, Red Swan, marking his return to television after over two years. This series is a significant comeback for both Rain and Kim Ha Neul, who were last seen on the small screen in 2022.
Rain’s most recent TV projects were Ghost
Doctor, where he starred alongside Kim Bum, and a cameo appearance in Under the
Queen’s Umbrella, both released in 2022. These Korean TV series are currently
available on Netflix for those who wish to catch up. In 2023, Rain also took on
the role of mentor in Asia Super Young, a male group reality competition show
based in Hong Kong.
Kim Ha Neul, at 46, is renowned for her lead roles in the movies My Girlfriend is an Agent (2009) and Blind (2011), she earned her Best Actress awards for the latter at the 48th Grand Bell Awards and the 32nd Blue Dragon Film Awards. She is celebrated as one of the most beautiful South Korean actresses. Her last TV project was Kill Heel, which aired on Korea’s cable channel TVN.
Red
Swan follows the story of Oh Wan Soo (played by Kim Ha Neul), a woman who
transforms her life from poverty to becoming a world-class golfer. Amid her
struggles, she enters a loveless marriage with the heir of Hwain Group to pay
off her mother’s debt. Now married, she meets and develops feelings for Seo Do
Yoon (Rain’s character), a former police officer who becomes a bodyguard for
the Hwain Group and is assigned to protect her.
While you might think you can predict the storyline, the ending remains a mystery until you watch all 10 episodes. South Korean dramas are known for being a blend of the predictable and the unexpected. Despite familiar plotlines, K-dramas continue to captivate viewers with their engaging dialogues, compelling scriptwriting, and the director’s skillful execution. Red Swan promises to be no exception.
